First of all, the drive between Fairbanks and Anchorage is amazing!
And this time of year was perfect! There was still snow on the mountains, so they were beautiful; but it wasn't brutally cold outside, so we even had our windows down part of the time. Perfect!
The massive mountain to the left (the one kind of hidden by clouds) is...
Mt. McKinley!
(All these pictures were taken while Drew was driving, so I know they're not great)
Like I said, the drive is amazing... we got to look at McKinley for about two and a half hours of our drive - that's it right there in the middle!
(And this picture was taken around 9:30 or 10:00 at night; by now, we still have light after 11:00!)
We obviously crashed once we got to our hotel, since it was so late; but the next day, we saw this little lady (although she is not so little) walking by our window when we were having breakfast. When we left to go out, she was just chillin' in the yard next to the hotel. She was also there the next day. So we claimed her as our pet.
Here's Drew just hangin' out...

Don't worry, he didn't end up killing us. He just wanted to be our friend. Well, I at least thought he did. Drew didn't really think so, so he wouldn't let me out of the car to find out.
Our next trip to Anchorage is scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend (which also happens to be my birthday weekend), during which we have several fun activities planned (including a stop in Denali)...
We did go down by the water one afternoon to go for a walk. Admittedly, it was a just little bit colder down by the water; but it looks colder than it actually was.
Ok, so I told you about our pet moose... Well, one of the funniest moments of the trip was yet another moose sighting. Watch these videos [n order to get the full effect (originally, there were only 2 videos; but they were too big to upload, so I had to split them both up... so they might seem a little weird, but they are still funny)]!
Our new friend...
(P.S. Those weird circles above his eyes are where his antlers would normally be; think about how crazy that would have been!)
And because Drew wouldn't let me take our pet moose from the hotel or our new moose friend that we chased down back home with us, he did take me to go build my very own moose. No, it's not quite as big as the other two moose; but it at least fit in our car, and since Drew is pretty fond of the fact that I am alive... I thought it was a very sweet gesture.
So meet Captain Moosalophalous...
so stay tuned!!!
